FORUM DO'S
Choose a descriptive subject line (title).
This is VERY important! Write descriptive subject lines that explain your question or topic of discussion as clearly as possible. This will help make our discussion forum a much better place. For example, which subject line is more helpful to other forum users as well as to yourself: (A) "I need help" Or, (B) "Need advice on holster for a Glock 21?" Here's another example: (A) "Ammo question", or (B) Has anyone used the Hornady TAP in .45 ACP? Obviously B is much more user friendly. Good, descriptive subject lines will help you get the assistance you need and help everyone else find what they are looking for more easily.
Get familiar with the site and see if your question has already been answered before posting it.
This is also a VERY IMPORTANT guideline that makes for a happy forum community. Before you start posting messages, please familiarize yourself with the forum as well as the rest of the USCCA website. If possible, check to make sure your question has not already been addressed in a recent forum post. The website and forum both have a great search feature to help you find what you are looking for.
Discussion, not debate.
Debate CAN be very constructive. However the USCCA is a support community and educational resource community, not a debate platform. We are here to support, inspire, motivate and educate. We are here to learn and to teach. Too often, debates begin constructively, then turn argumentative and then destructive, so please have discussions, not debates.
Respect intellectual property and copyright laws.
You must have copyright ownership of all material that you post in our discussion forums. No articles, recipes, photographs, graphics, etc. may be posted without the express written consent of the copyright holder. As an alternative, you can refer to an online news article, recipe or graphic from another site, simply post a few lines summarizing the article or recipe and include a link to it.
Give credit and proper bylines where they are due.
You heard it in high school and college: and same goes here: Don't plagiarize. Not only must we be careful not to violate copyrights of other people's intellectual property, we must also be sure to give credit when we post information that was written by someone else. Always attribute quotes and other people's forum posts, etc to the person who wrote them. Please - do not copy and paste something without proper credit and attribution if it's not yours.
Post your question or message only once in one forum.
Please post your question in only one forum. Posting a message to more than one forum is unnecessary and clogs up the forums with unnecessary and duplicate traffic for you and others to read through. Make this forum a better place by posting your message in only one place.
Keep your messages on topic for the forum and thread you are in.
Please post your messages in the most appropriate forum and do your best to keep each thread relevant to the topic being discussed. If someone makes an off topic or inappropriate post, sometimes it's best not to reply at all to the off topic post, but to simply get back on topic.
Respect the privacy of others and keep private what should stay private.
Remember, all messages posted on the message boards can be viewed by other members. Please respect the privacy of others. This means no posting of phone numbers, addresses, or any other private information. We discourage users from posting such information even about themselves, as we cannot control how that information may be used beyond this discussion group.
Be nice.
Nuff said.
Have fun.
Let's all laugh together and have fun together (because most of the time, it's just not that serious!)
FORUM DON'TS
Absolutely no advertising is permitted.
No solicitations or advertisements are allowed. This includes advertisements for your business, your own online endeavors. If you have a website, posting the URL of your website below your signature is permitted (but please, no advertising associated with it, just a link)
No obscene, racist or sexually explicit language or posts are allowed. We live by our words online, so we don't allow obscene, racist or sexually explicit language. Better to stay away from religion and politics too. Personal attacks are not tolerated. We reserve the right to remove posts and cancel membership of anyone who posts anything that is abusive, or which defames or insults anyone.
USCCA forum policy on profanity.
It is the general policy of USCCA that the use of profanity in any form is inappropriate on its forums. We kindly ask our membership to abstain from its use, in keeping with a polite bearing toward all members of the forum.
In addition:
The use of profanity in the process of conducting a personal attack on another forum member will not be tolerated and will most likely result in an immediate dismissal from the forum community.
Any explicit use of profanity in any posting can result in a warning from a moderator or administrator, and failure to heed the warning from the moderator or administrator may result in a temporary or permanent loss of forum privileges.
Profanity use is considered to be 'explicit' when either words, or a combination of letters and symbols makes it easily determined exactly which profane word was intended. Certain "acronyms" may also be considered an explicit use of profanity. 'Easily determined' will ultimately be determined by the moderators or administrators but a good rule to follow is "When in doubt, don't post it!"
All members are expected to adhere to this policy and its acceptance by them is implied by their participation on the forum.
The USCCA Staff.
